COLBC 2nd year of
Support for Carmel Middle School August 2005
COLBC donated more than 800 dollars worth of school supplies for Carmel
Middle School. According to Mrs. Micheletti assistant principal a
student and their mother came in with no school supplies and left the office
with everything on the schools supply list for that grade. Also this
year is the first year for school uniforms. We were able to donate an
additional $200.00 toward uniforms. It is always an awesome thing to
see people getting what they need and especially our kids. COLBC
believes firmly in supporting the kids as they grow up to ensure they have
the best opportunity to become our next teacher, doctors, leaders and even
pastors.
Board Meeting Minutes January 2005
Board meeting Brief:
Board meeting held January 6, 2005
Meeting Opened in prayer (BILL)
Went over previous years financial statement (Bill)
Motion Bill: to close 2004 books Second Jan (all In favor with no comment) Approved
Motion Bill: Church Workers Appreciation Luncheon. Approval for a church workers luncheon to be held Feb 13 paid for from church funds. A cap was issued of $400.00 for the event. The event to be open to the entire church body (members and non member-attendees). Randy to find
location.
Seconded by Randy, (All in favor) Approved
Motion Bill: Laptop for Church. Since we currently are using electronic media for song services and since we don't have a church office a proposal to purchase a laptop to contain the media for the song services,
calendar for the church, and utilization off office type needs for the church. Comment from Bill that currently this function is held on a personal home computer and that by purchasing a laptop would enable the pastor or any other member open access to the asset for sermon prep, music, etc. Also when a church office is opened the laptop can be utilized there as well. This will allow for the consolidation of all church related business into one platform and still be transportable as the need arises.
Seconded by Randy, (All in Favor) Approved
Additional Business (No Proposal required):
Jan will be keeping the official paper copy of the church calender. This year will be the year where we will take on a proactive approach on calender items and preparing for special services rather than the "fall down" approach of the past few years. Any church related appointments that the pastor has scheduled will be placed on that calender to ensure that there are no overlaps of appointments and events. To expedite this effort and to bring the board meeting to a close it was decided that the upcoming womens meeting would be the best time to schedule a "Church Planning Meeting". Jan will call with a date and time to hold a church planning meeting to assess the events for the upcoming year and who will be responsible for putting those events together. It would be nice to have this setup before the Anniversary Church business meeting to be held on Feb 13 and church workers luncheon on that same day.
No Further Business:
Motion Bill: Close board meeting Randy Second, (All In favor)

COLBC Spends $1500.00 plus for Christmas. December 2004
COLBC has been given generous donations of supplies and has augmented this with financial means from the church funds for support to the needy of Colorado Springs. This is the largest amount of support given since 1999 for this group. My greatest lament is that there is more we could have spent for Christmas, but there were few who responded to our request for those who need help. We could have spent much more. Next year we pray that there will be more who we can effect during the holidays. We supported 3 families and gave to others as the need was brought to us. The giving was also toward supplies to Carmel Middle School for use to their discression.
COLBC Announcement and Message of Prayer for Carmel Middle School and GivingOctober 2004
Greetings to God's Church,
I hope and pray that this message finds you in good health and the greater faith of Christ our Lord and Savior. Praise be to the Lord of Hosts. The past couple of Sunday services have been truly amazing. I have had many express how they have felt a greater and increasing presence over the past month of the Holy Spirit up to and including the infilling of the Holy Spirit verbally in the language of the Spirit last Sunday. Because of our faithfulness to God, our cup runs over. Let us also allow the flow of the Spirit in our lives run over into that of those around us.
God has been so good to us in allowing us to help others as well. We don't have a lot of money lying around because we are allowing God to work with that which has been brought to His storehouse. Money is not ours to keep, but it is His to multiply so that we may fulfill his will. Since we started the Back to School drive this year we have spent on many other small projects to include helping with AMP Evangelism, clothing for a Widefield family, helping Freddie Lepulu's family upon his death, and a greater continued support for food and clothing for the community in general. There have also been many food and clothing drives and donations that are not accounted for in this number since we assigned no specific value, but the time, effort and support is there and accounted for by God. This year we have spent $3707.37 on Christian Education, Evangelism, Missions, and Charitable Donations with our Rent and Utilities (phone) only being $1608.81. No matter how much we try to give to the community we are still being multiplied in our giving both financially and spiritually.
All of this to ask for specific prayer:
We have been meeting at Carmel Middle School since the end of February of this year. Since then we have continued to grow in numbers (one at a time), financially, and spiritually. We have Jerry Tuttle who will be with us to speak on missions on the 24th, and Jon and Angie Hamp who will be speaking and singing to us on the 31st. I would never have imagined in February that we would be where we are now. Our continued commitment to the community is a direct reflection to our dedication to Christ.
The Prayer Request:
This Friday I will be meeting with Carmel Middle School and a list of staff members to discuss our standing at Carmel Middle School. Although it may be inconvenient to pack and un pack the church each Sunday, they have given us a hope to reach a community on our heart and so desperate in need for salvation and a touch of the Holy Spirit as well as the physical needs as dictated by the Law of God.
James 2:20,26
20 But are you willing to recognize, (1) you foolish fellow, that (2) faith without works is useless?
26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also (3) faith without works is dead.
Carmel Middle School has been a great asset to us as well as I pray that we have been an asset to them and to the community in which God has laid a burden on our hearts. Pray for Carmel Middle School, its staff, and those to whom all of Harrison School District serves. Pray also that God will lay a burden on the heart of Carmel and its staff to allow us to continue to use their facility for the season in which He prescribes and allow us the pleasurable opportunity to continue to minister to this community.
All of this we pray as is the will of God.
COLBC Supports AMP Evangelism September 2004
Greetings in the name of the Lord,
This past month has been such a blessing for our Church. The Lord has allowed us the opportunity to really begin helping the community in many ways. I am personally very pleased with the things we as a church and body of believers are able to do in His name. As a result of following the call to be witnesses to our spirit starved community, we are also seeing a return of that giving heart in the way the Lord is blessing our church both as individuals and as the body of Christ. As we continue to give of ourselves, we will reap bountiful blessings. I can’t wait to see what is to happen next.
I have also had the pleasure of working intimately with Pastor Jon Hamp, who is currently the youth pastor of Church at Briargate, in helping start a ministry that God has placed a desire and burden on his heart for. The name of the Ministry is AMP Evangelism. I have known Pastor Jon Hamp and his wife Angie (pictured below) for many years, and have seen the Lord work through both of them with the Youth of Colorado Springs, and have been witness to how his ministry has affected the hearts of many people. His dynamic approach is refreshing and the work of the Holy Spirit in him is evident by the work of the Lord in those of whom Jon and Angie have touched. I am excited with this new startup ministry and hope and pray that we will be able to have a long standing partnership with AMP Evangelism. If you wish you may visit the ministry website at www.ampevangelism.com.
As a church I would like for us to be prayer warriors with AMP Evangelism. AMP is the first missions field our church has helped start. As a result, we then also take on the responsibility as such to pray for this “child like” (because it is new) ministry and its growth, just as much as others have prayed for Circles and its growth. I would like to extend to him a title within our church of Saevus kai Agios eneka Populus Pastor a combination of the Latin and Greek which I feel best describes him and his ministry (ask me in church and I will tell you what that means) provided that his spirit and practice are such as become the gospel of Christ, and that his teachings correspond with the established doctrines of the Holy Scriptures and said Church. Let’s work together and watch this “baby” grow and watch the growth of Gods church as a result of the ministry of AMP Evangelism.
Jon and Angie have two children Caleb who is 4 and Noah who is a feisty 6.
They are starting pretty much at ground zero right now and if you wish to make a specified donation to AMP Evangelism please make a note on your offering envelop whatever desired amount you wish to contribute as designated funds and specify that it go to AMP Evangelism. I am very excited about this ministry.
Jon will be speaking at COLBC on October 31 and both Jon and Angie will be singing in that service as well. Please make sure that you are there to experience that which the Holy Spirit places on Jon’s heart as a message for God’s church.
May God bless you all, and continue to keep the faith in prayer.
Back to School Drive for Carmel Middle School August 2004
Last year as a church we contributed $150.00 worth of school supplies to the needy children of our community. This year I spoke with the guidance counselors at carmel middle school to find out what the real needs of the community were and how we could help. Our belief as a church is that our finances will stagnate should we hoard the income God has provided for us. As a result, upon deciding that it was time to contribute again to the community, 2 checks arrived from private buisnesses totaling $200.00. Combining the $200.00 with last years contribution brings a total budget this year of $350.00. After many laborous hours of shopping grabbbing everything we could get our hands on for school supplies and snacks for the kids we still only spent $254.87. This gives us an opportunity to contribute to more than just Carmel Middle School. God has certainly blessed our church and I pray that we are a blessing to Carmel Middle School and the sourrounding neighborhood. I hope to continue a long term relationship with Carmel Middle School and all of Harrison School disctrict. If God gave us the opportunity to help out with Carmel This year, I can't wait to see what will happen next year.
COLBC Tax Exempt Certificate June 2004
COLBC Tax Exempt Letter of Determination June 2004
After long months of processing the appropriate form to the IRS has proven fruitful. A letter from the Internal Revenue Service was revised and dated June 1, 2004 stating:
"Dear Applicant, Based on information supplied, and assuming your operations will be as stated in your application for recognition of exemption, we have determined you are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501 (c)(3)...Donors may deduct contributions to you as provided in section 170 of the Code." Pastor Pederson has waited many long years to see this take place. It is not so much that tax exempt status was required, but it is another step in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that we be viewed as a legitimate church in the eyes of our community and peers. This letter will be posted to the Website by June 9, 2004. A link will be left here to view the letter.
New Young Persons Group "Trinity's Tribe" Formation June 2004
Since Circles is a small church, it was decided amongst the young people of the church to form a "young persons" group. After many long hours of name deciding via email and so forth it was decided that the appropriate name for the young persons group would be "Trinity's Tribe" in good keeping with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who gives us all the blessings bestowed to us and to our growth and development as "young" Christians. Trinity's Tribe will be meeting for our first time this month to talk about goals for the group. It is anticipated that this group will encompass the youth 14 years - 17 years old up to 25 years old which would cover as a youth group as well. A church comprised of Young People is a healthy church. I can't wait to see what will come to fruition with this group as it continues to grow and develop.

COLBC Welcomes back Jerome and our troops. March 2004
After many months of prayer Jerome returns back to us in good health from the dangers of Iraq. We know how difficult it has been for him and his family to be apart for so long. Our prayers were answered when news of Jerome's return swept the church. Jerome is a man of God and believes in the power of Jesus Christ our savior. He shared this love for Christ with his friends during this time of trial. Having served in the desert myself during the first Iraq campaign, I understand what hardship this brings for families who serve the United States of America under adverse conditions. I am proud of Jerome and all our troops for the part they play toward freedom. Wartime is never good, and never easy, but is sometimes necessary as we can see by Biblical history. Praises be to God for the troops who have returned home, and prayers for those who have lost family members overseas and for those troops still serving our country overseas.
New Location Courtesy of Harrison School District and Carmel Middle School February 2004
COLBC is moving. By the gracious offer from Carmel Middle school and it's staff we will be moving to a larger facility. Mr. Price the School Principle and Administrator for Carmel Middle School is allowing us to hold services in their school auditorium on a short term basis. With the help of Dixie and the head custodian Freddie we were able to negotiate the use of the facility. Carmel Middle School is a community oriented school who's goal is to do all they can to help the community above and beyond educating the children. This includes our use of the facility. They also have hopes to have a working clinic in the school to help with some of the medical needs of the children in the area the school services. I can think of no better place to hold church services than in a school that wants to help the community. Our goal as a church is to do exactly what the school wants to do as well--Make this community a better and wonderful place to live, worship, and grow into the people that God wants us to be. This is only one more step forward for this community and I cannot even fathom what may happen for this community next. God has placed a desire on the heart of COLBC to meet the needs of this community both physically and spiritually and I feel that a "Partnering" with Carmel Middle School will give us better direction on what the needs of the community may be. Please continue to pray for God's direction for the Church, and say a prayer also for the families that Carmel Middle School services.

Supporting the Kids for Christmas December, 2003
COLBC will be purchasing and providing clothes to the Good News Foundation for clothes for Kids. Since we are a small church, we will be better served to provide to a larger foundation to meet the needs of children. It is our intent to follow our charter and responsibility as a church to give subsistence to the poor, and needy. This is the greatest thing a church can do. God commanded us to love our neighbors as ourselves and the church is best suited to provide for the needs of the community.
Support for local thanksgiving food drive November, 2003
Many boxes of food were collected to be given out to the community for the upcoming thanksgiving holidays. Although it is generally well known that churches provide meals to the needy during special events throughout the year, it is our intent to provide as much as necessary when necessary and not just on holidays. Our contribution with many others provided real food to real people this year at thanksgiving.
COLBC Supports World Missions October, 2003
Faith promises are being accepted by all (active and inactive) members of Circles of Love Bible Church for 2004 support for world missions. Currently missions support is going to Rev. Gerald Silliman in Alaska, and to Colorado Springs local Good New Foundation for support to needy families. It is our hope to provide a greater amount of support to world missions during the 2004 calendar year. Go to our
missions support page for more information. World missions includes overseas as well as domestic missions. These include Light for the Lost, Speed the Light, Mission America, and Teen Challenge. There are a host of overseas missions opportunities and many needs there.

The Power Of Prayer Tape Series September, 2003
A couple of months ago COLBC purchased a tape duplicator. This month completed a three part series on The Power Of Prayer. The tape series is being distributed as a box set to be handed out to friends, family, or acquaintances. This tape series is not meant to be a tool for bringing in the unsaved, but is to be a help to the believer either on the fringe, on the fence, or wishing to be a better prayer warrior. This is the first of many evangelistic tools which are going to be distributed to the public. The tape set is free of charge and is not for resale. Please visit the evangelism ministry page (or click here) for more information. It is the intent of our church to be an evangelistic tool to the community. The next tape to be distributed will be a message of saving grace for the unbeliever.
